This version of the King Kong story is probably the best of its generation of monster movies with an excellent performance from Fay Wray and good effects given when the film was made. It is also one of the first films to have have a musical score (Max Steiner) that is intrinsic to the drama of the film. The effects by Willis O'Brien are mainly why this is an enduring classic film but also the the character of Kong who downfall is the love of a woman.
